Kindergarten in Modigliana
International Competition _ 4th Prize
Floating on the slope that connects the two school complexes, the project aims to create a harmonious dialogue between nature and man, between rationality and spontaneity. Grouped and ordered blocks stand in contrast to an amorphous volume, shaped by time and transformed by human intervention. Straight lines intersect with freer, more fluid strokes, giving life to a visual language that alternates geometric precision and spontaneous gesture. It is a play of contrasts that celebrates the meeting between calculation and unpredictability, evoking the creative tension between the rationality of design and the primordial energy of the place.
Reason shapes spaces, while nature sculpts and transforms them, like a river that, in its ceaseless flow, molds its banks and redefines the human landscape. The project arises from this dynamic, establishing a continuous dialogue between the order of preconceived ideas and the creative force of the unforeseen.
Being a school project, a place par excellence of transformation, it embodies this principle: an environment in which every element is in constant evolution. Echoing the words of Heraclitus, Panta Rei: everything flows. With the passage of time, knowledge, relationships, and spaces transform, in an endless dance that intertwines the presence of man and the essence of nature.
It is not the technique, nor the innovative use of materials — although both have been fully realized — that gives uniqueness to the project, but the foundational idea that Atelier I has pursued with coherence. The essence of architecture lies precisely in this: in the use of technique as a tool to shape the archè, those primordial principles that represent the original core of every creation.
